This detailed depiction of Australia's largest bird of prey is accompanied by inscriptions detailing the year, the name of the coin, and the weight and purity of the metal. The opposite side of the coin bears the classic effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions indicating the ruler's name, the issuing nation of Australia, and the legal tender denomination of one dollar.
