The side of the coin representing the historical front features a detailed recreation of the classic design from the early twentieth century. This includes a depiction of St. Edward's Crown positioned above a pair of crossed branches containing twenty-two maple leaves. This specific foliage arrangement served as a signature motif on Canadian five-cent pieces until it was retired in 1921.
