This impressive five-ounce silver coin belongs to the America the Beautiful series, a collection celebrating the diverse natural landscapes of the United States. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 2015, this substantial piece is composed of five troy ounces of 0.999 fine silver. It has been certified in Specimen 69 condition, highlighting its exceptional strike and preservation. The reverse of the coin showcases a detailed scene from the Kisatchie National Forest, which was established in 1930 as the sole national forest in the state of Louisiana. The design depicts a wild turkey in flight over a landscape of longleaf pine trees. Surrounding this natural scene are the inscriptions KISATCHIE, LOUISIANA, and the year 2015, alongside the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the obverse, the coin bears the classic portrait of George Washington. This side is inscribed with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the denomination of QUARTER DOLLAR. A small P mint mark is also visible, denoting its origin at the Philadelphia facility.
