This impressive five-ounce silver coin, minted at the Philadelphia facility in 2015, belongs to the celebrated America the Beautiful series. Struck in 0.999 fine silver, the coin features a specialized burnished finish that gives its surfaces a distinct, soft matte appearance. It carries a nominal face value of twenty-five cents, though its physical scale far exceeds a standard circulating quarter. The reverse of the coin honors Kisatchie National Forest, established in 1930 as the sole national forest in the state of Louisiana. The artwork depicts a wild turkey in mid-flight, soaring gracefully over a landscape of native longleaf pine trees. Encircling this scene are the inscriptions "Kisatchie", "Louisiana", "2015", and the traditional motto "E Pluribus Unum". On the obverse, a classic portrait of George Washington faces left.
