The Somalian Elephant series has captured the attention of coin enthusiasts worldwide since its debut in 2010. Each year, the reverse design undergoes a complete transformation, offering a fresh artistic perspective on one of the world's most majestic land mammals. Struck in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, this 2015 edition is crafted from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine gold. The reverse of the 2015 coin portrays a tender scene of a mother elephant and her young calf traversing the African grasslands. In the background, the landscape is brought to life with representations of native trees and birds in flight. Surrounding this natural scene are the inscriptions "AFRICAN WILDLIFE", "ELEPHANT", and specifications detailing the metal's weight and purity of "1 oz Au 999". On the obverse, the coin displays the official coat of arms of the Somali Republic. This heraldic emblem is flanked by the split year of issue, "20" and "15", and sits above the denomination of "1000 SHILLINGS". Although issued for Somalia, this modern gold piece was struck by the historic Bavarian State Mint in Germany, combining African thematic beauty with European minting precision.
