Struck at the West Point facility in New York, this ten-dollar gold piece represents a modern continuation of classic American coinage design. The coin contains a quarter ounce of gold, minted with a striking proof finish. This specialized minting process results in highly reflective, mirrorlike background fields that contrast sharply with the frosted details of the raised designs. The front face of the coin presents a standing figure of Lady Liberty, who holds a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing enlightenment and peace.
