This particular method of production gives the gold surface a distinct appearance, setting it apart from standard bullion and proof strikes. Containing one troy ounce of gold, the piece represents a modern continuation of a legendary American coin series that first debuted in 1986. The obverse features a celebrated depiction of Lady Liberty. Originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the double eagle, the design shows Liberty walking forward with confidence, framed by the radiating rays of a rising sun. The year 2015 is clearly inscribed alongside this timeless figure. On the reverse, the coin displays a detailed scene of a bald eagle family.
