In 2015, the United States Mint released a remarkable gold coin that showcases modern minting capabilities through a high relief strike. This technique gives the design an extraordinary depth, allowing the artwork to rise prominently from the surface. Struck at the West Point Mint, each coin is composed of one troy ounce of highly pure 0.9999 fine gold and carries a face value of 100 dollars. The production of this issue was limited to a worldwide mintage of 49,325 pieces. The obverse of the coin presents a contemporary interpretation of Lady Liberty, envisioned by artist Justin Kunz. She is depicted standing with a torch held aloft in one hand and an American flag in the other, symbolizing guidance and freedom. Surrounding her figure are the classic inscriptions "Liberty" and "In God We Trust," alongside the "W" mint mark. On the reverse, designed by Paul Balan, a majestic American eagle is captured in mid-flight, grasping an olive branch in its talons. This side of the coin bears the inscription "United States of America," along with the weight, the gold purity of 0.9999, and the face value of "One Hundred Dollars."
