In 2015, the West Point Mint produced a striking high-relief gold coin that offers a modern interpretation of classic American iconography. Struck from one troy ounce of 24-karat gold with a purity of 0.9999, this piece carries a face value of 100 dollars. The issue was limited to a production run of 50,000 pieces, making it a notable release of its era. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 69, representing an exceptionally well-preserved strike. The obverse of the coin features a contemporary depiction of Lady Liberty, designed by Justin Kunz. She is shown holding a torch in one hand while carrying an American flag. The inscriptions "Liberty" and "In God We Trust" accompany the figure, alongside the 2015 date. This design brings a fresh perspective to a traditional symbol of freedom, rendered with the depth and detail that only high-relief minting can achieve. On the reverse, artist Paul Balan captures a dynamic image of an American eagle soaring through the air while clutching an olive branch in its talons. The reverse inscriptions denote the issuing nation, "United States of America," the traditional motto "E Pluribus Unum," and the coin's technical specifications, including its weight, purity, and the face value of one hundred dollars. The "W" mint mark is also visible, signifying its origin at the West Point facility.
