2016 Australia 1 oz Silver Kookaburra BU
2016 Australia 1 oz Silver Kookaburra BU
Introduced in 1990, the Australian Kookaburra series celebrates one of the continent's most famous native birds. The 2016 release showcases the kookaburra, which holds the distinction of being the largest member of the kingfisher family. Struck from one ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this coin captures the unique wildlife of the region with a maximum mintage of 500,000 pieces. The reverse design portrays the bird resting on a wooden fence post, set against a detailed Australian countryside landscape. This side also features the traditional 'P' mint mark, representing the historic Perth Mint. On the obverse, the coin displays the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, alongside the face value of 1 Dollar.
