2016-D Kennedy Half Dollar BU
The 2016 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Denver Mint, represents a modern continuation of one of America's most recognizable coin designs. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, meaning it retains the original luster and sharp details from the coining press, having never entered general circulation. On the obverse, the coin displays a left-facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy, originally designed by Gilroy Roberts. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is split across the lower field, with the year 2016 placed at the bottom. Just above the date, the "D" mint mark indicates its origin at the Denver facility. The reverse side, created by Frank Gasparro, features a detailed heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is displayed on a scroll, while the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR" frame the central design. Structurally, the coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper.
