In 2016, the United States Mint released a remarkably large silver coin as part of its America the Beautiful program. This impressive piece contains five troy ounces of 999 fine silver and features a distinct burnished finish, which gives the metal a soft, matte appearance. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the coin carries the 'P' mint mark, distinguishing it as a special collector issue that comes with its original box and certificate of authenticity. The reverse side of this substantial quarter features a striking depiction of Camel Rock, a famous geological formation located within the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois. A red-tailed hawk is shown soaring high in the sky above the stone structure. Surrounding this wilderness scene are the inscriptions 'SHAWNEE', 'ILLINOIS', '2016', and the traditional motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'. On the obverse, the coin displays the familiar portrait of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan. Because of the coin's generous five-ounce scale, the details of the presidency's first portrait are exceptionally clear. The front of the coin also bears the standard inscriptions 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA', 'LIBERTY', 'IN GOD WE TRUST', and the face value of 'QUARTER DOLLAR'.
