2016-W 1/2 oz Gold Walking Liberty Half Dollar (Abrasions)

0.5000 troy oz .9999 2016 Specimen

In 2016, the United States Mint celebrated a major milestone in American numismatics by reissuing one of its most celebrated designs. This special release marks the 100th anniversary of the classic 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar, rendering the historic artwork in a modern format. Struck at the West Point Mint in New York, this coin is composed of a half ounce of 24-karat gold with an exceptional purity of 0.9999. The obverse features Lady Liberty draped in the American flag, gracefully moving toward the dawn of a new day while cradling branches of laurel and oak in her arm. The reverse depicts a powerful eagle perched on a mountain crag, its wings unfurled in a display of strength. The inscriptions on the coin include the country of issue, United States of America, along with the nominal face value of fifty cents and the dual dates commemorating the centennial.
