2016-W 1/4 oz Proof American Gold Eagle (w/Box & COA)
The 2016 quarter-ounce Gold Eagle stands as a striking example of modern American coinage, blending historic artistry with contemporary minting precision. Struck at the West Point Mint in New York, this ten-dollar denomination coin contains exactly 0.2500 troy ounces of pure gold. Its highly polished, mirrorlike proof finish highlights the intricate details of both the obverse and reverse designs, creating a beautiful contrast that captures the eye. On the obverse, viewers can appreciate a celebrated depiction of Lady Liberty, which was adapted from the famous early twentieth-century gold double eagle designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Liberty is shown stepping forward, holding a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing peace and strength. The inscription LIBERTY and the year 2016 are clearly visible on this side. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, presents a detailed family scene of America's national bird. A male eagle is depicted in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle stands watch over her young eaglets. This side also features the traditional mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the weight and face value inscriptions indicating the coin's ten-dollar status.
