The 2017 American Gold Eagle represents a stunning fusion of historical and modern American coin design. Struck from one troy ounce of gold with a purity of 0.9167, this fifty-dollar coin is certified in exceptional Mint State 69 condition, denoting its nearly flawless strike and preservation. On the obverse, the design is adapted from the famous 1907 Gold Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It features a powerful depiction of Lady Liberty walking forward, illuminated by the rays of a rising sun. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above her, and the year 2017 is clearly visible to her side. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, presents a heartwarming and symbolic family scene. A male bald eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest that holds a female eagle and their young. This side bears the national mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the country of origin, the gold weight, and the fifty-dollar face value.
