Struck from one troy ounce of gold, this fifty-dollar denomination coin carries a guarantee of weight and purity directly from the United States government. This specific example features a certified grade of Mint State 70 and includes a special label hand-signed by Edmund C. Moy, who previously served as the director of the United States Mint. On the obverse, a classic depiction of Lady Liberty walks forward, illuminated by the rays of a rising sun. The design is adapted from the famous early twentieth-century gold double eagle coin. The inscriptions on this side include the word LIBERTY alongside the year 2017 and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, presents a detailed family of eagles. A male eagle is depicted in flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and her young hatchlings wait.
