2017 1 oz Palladium Eagle MS-70 PCGS (First Day of Issue)

In 2017, the United States Mint expanded its famous American Eagle bullion program by introducing a brand new precious metal to the series: palladium. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a limited worldwide production of just 15,000 pieces, this inaugural release represents the very first year of issue for the palladium coin. Each piece contains one troy ounce of 0.9995 fine palladium, minted with a striking high-relief finish that brings extraordinary depth to the artwork. The obverse of the coin presents a classic depiction of Liberty adorned with a winged Phrygian cap, a powerful image that evokes the appearance of the ancient Roman god Mercury. This iconic portrait was adapted from the historic work of Adolph Weinman. On the reverse, also designed by Weinman, an eagle is shown perched on a rocky outcrop. This particular eagle motif has a rich artistic heritage, having been utilized on the prestigious annual Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architects since 1907. Legible inscriptions on the coin confirm its official status and specifications. The obverse features the traditional motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" alongside the year 2017. The reverse displays the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", the face value of "$25", and details confirming the weight and purity of the palladium content.
