On the obverse, the figure of Lady Liberty strides gracefully toward the dawn, enveloped in the folds of the American flag. This celebrated design, originally created by Adolph A. Weinman, is modeled after the historic Walking Liberty half dollar. The inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "2017" accompany the image, symbolizing hope and national heritage.
