2017 Austria 1 oz Platinum Philharmonic BU
2017 Austria 1 oz Platinum Philharmonic BU
The Austrian Philharmonic series is celebrated worldwide for its artistic tribute to classical music. While the gold version of this iconic design debuted in 1989 and the silver followed in 2008, the platinum edition is a newer tradition, first introduced in 2016. Struck in one troy ounce of 0.9995 fine platinum, this 2017 issue carries on the legacy of the series with its brilliant uncirculated finish and a face value of 100 Euros, backed by the Austrian Mint. Both sides of the coin celebrate the rich musical culture of Vienna. The obverse features a detailed rendering of the Great Organ, the famous centerpiece located inside the Golden Hall of Vienna's Musikverein concert hall. This side also displays the year of issue, the weight, and the coin's face value. On the reverse, an elegant arrangement of orchestral instruments takes center stage. A cello stands in the middle, flanked by a horn, a bassoon, a harp, and violins. This harmonious design, shared across the gold, silver, and platinum versions of the Philharmonic series, offers a visual symphony that captures the spirit of Austria's musical history.
