2017-D Kennedy Half Dollar BU
The 2017 Kennedy half dollar struck at the Denver Mint stands as a brilliant example of modern American coinage. This fifty-cent piece features a specialized composition, consisting of an outer layer of copper and nickel bonded securely to a core of pure copper. This metallurgical design gives the coin its distinct weight and appearance, continuing a long-standing tradition for circulating United States coinage. On the obverse, the coin displays a detailed bust of John F. Kennedy, designed by Gilroy Roberts. This portrait is accompanied by the classic inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the mint mark "D" indicating its origin in Denver. The year 2017 is split across the bottom of the design, anchoring the portrait in its modern era. The reverse side features a powerful heraldic eagle, a design crafted by Frank Gasparro. The eagle holds a cluster of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. Above the eagle, the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is clearly visible, while the outer rim bears the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR."
