Produced with a distinctive reverse proof finish, this issue marks the 35th anniversary of the liberation of the Falklands. It represents a limited release, with a total mintage restricted to 50,000 pieces. The obverse of the coin showcases an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II that is used solely by the Pobjoy Mint. The reverse displays Britannia, the classic female personification of the British Isles, standing before rolling waves while holding her trident. This iconic figure traces her name back to the Latin term for Great Britain coined in the year 43, and her image has graced coinage since the second century. Although minted for the Falkland Islands, this sovereign coin carries backing from the government of the British Virgin Islands.
