Struck by the historic Casa de Moneda de México, this massive silver piece contains one kilogram of 0.999 fine silver. The coin carries a face value of 100 Pesos, backed by the Banco de México. It represents a remarkable fusion of modern minting capabilities and ancient cultural heritage, issued in a very limited release of just 500 pieces globally for the year 2017. The reverse side of the coin displays a highly detailed rendering of the famous Aztec calendar stone. At the very heart of this complex design is the face of Tonatiuh, the Aztec sun deity. The surrounding carvings illustrate a sophisticated timekeeping system that merged two distinct cycles: a solar count of 365 days known as the xiuhpohualli, and a sacred ritual count of 260 days called the tonalpohualli. Inscriptions on this side clearly state the purity and weight as 1 kg PLATA PURA LEY 999, alongside the year 2017, the denomination $100, and the Mo mint mark of the Mexico City Mint. On the obverse, the central focus is the modern Mexican National Shield, which depicts an eagle perched on a cactus while clutching a snake, surrounded by the words ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS. Encircling this central emblem is a historical sequence of previous national coats of arms used throughout the nation's past, offering a visual journey through the evolution of Mexico's patriotic symbols.
