2017 Niue 1/25 oz Gold Czech Lion BU
2017 Niue 1/25 oz Gold Czech Lion BU
In 2017, a unique numismatic collaboration emerged with the release of a 1/25 ounce gold coin issued under the authority of Niue and produced by the Czech Mint. This piece represents the very first bullion coin struck by the Czech Mint to launch their Czech Nationhood series. Minted in 0.9999 fine gold, this small but highly detailed coin has a limited mintage of just 4,500 pieces. The obverse of the coin displays the classic profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II alongside the issuing country of Niue, the year of issue 2017, and the face value of 5 Dollars. A delicate Czech linden branch also adorns this side, grounding the coin's dual identity. The inscriptions confirm the weight and purity of the gold content as 1/25 oz Au 999.9. On the reverse, the powerful symbolism of the Czech Republic takes center stage. Designed by Jaroslav Bejvl, the artwork features the dramatic two-tailed Czech Lion. Accompanying the majestic beast is the historic Crown of Saint Wenceslas and a shield displaying a burning eagle emblem, creating a rich tapestry of national heraldry on a modern gold canvas.
