2017 Niue 1 oz Silver Boomerang Fighter Plane Ultra High Relief

This modern one-dollar silver coin from Niue celebrates a major milestone in aviation history: the creation of the Boomerang, the very first fighter aircraft both designed and built in Australia. Engineered specifically as an interceptor, this historic plane was celebrated for its impressive rate of climb and its exceptional agility in the skies. The reverse of the coin displays two detailed depictions of the Boomerang aircraft soaring high above the coastline. Beneath the wing of one of the planes, the year 1942 is clearly inscribed, marking the era of its production. The inscriptions on this side also include the words "1ST FIGHTER AIRCRAFT" and "BOOMERANG" alongside the coin's weight and purity of one ounce of 0.999 fine silver. On the obverse, the coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions indicating the issuing nation of Niue, the year 2017, and the legal tender face value of one dollar. Struck in ultra high relief with a proof finish, this coin had a very limited release of only 750 pieces.
