2017-P 5 oz Silver ATB George Rogers Clark SP-70 NGC (FR/ER)

5.0000 troy oz .999 2017 NGC

This impressive five-ounce silver coin represents the concluding issue of the 2017 America the Beautiful series. Struck in highly pure 0.999 fine silver, the piece features a distinctive burnished finish that lends a soft, matte-like texture to its expansive surfaces. The coin carries a nominal face value of twenty-five cents, yet its substantial scale allows for an incredibly detailed presentation of its historical subject matter. The reverse side, designed by Frank Morris and engraved by Michael Gaudioso, depicts George Rogers Clark leading his men through icy, inundated waters as they advance on Fort Sackville in 1779. This daring winter expedition ultimately led to the surrender of the British garrison, securing vast territories that would later become the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The historic site of this campaign was officially transferred to the National Park Service in 1966. Surrounding the central image are the inscriptions "GEORGE ROGERS CLARK," "INDIANA," "2017," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." On the obverse, the coin displays the classic portrait of George Washington. This side features the traditional inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "QUARTER DOLLAR," alongside the "P" mint mark indicating its origin at the Philadelphia Mint. This specimen has been certified by a third-party grading service in Specimen 70 condition, representing a coin of exceptional strike and preservation.
