The 2017 American Silver Eagle dollar represents a fascinating chapter in modern United States coinage, particularly those examples originating from the Philadelphia Mint. While the vast majority of these popular one-ounce silver coins are typically struck elsewhere, a limited production run occurred in Philadelphia. In fact, less than 11 percent of the total 2017 Silver Eagles were minted at this historic facility, with a specific mintage of 1,000,000 pieces recorded as of March 20, 2017. Because of differences in the manufacturing processes between minting facilities, coins struck in Philadelphia often exhibit lower average grades than their West Point counterparts, making a high-grade specimen particularly notable. This certified Mint State 69 coin contains one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. The obverse features the classic depiction of Lady Liberty designed by Adolph A. Weinman, accompanied by the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "2017".
