2017 RCM 1 oz Gold $150 Canada 150 Voyageur (Assay Card)
2017 RCM 1 oz Gold $150 Canada 150 Voyageur (Assay Card)
Struck in one troy ounce of 0.9999 fine gold, this 2017 Canadian coin celebrates the nation's early history and the legacy of the fur trade. The reverse side presents a detailed scene based on a classic image by Emanuel Hahn, depicting a voyageur and an Indigenous person paddling a canoe filled with furs. A close inspection of the cargo reveals the letters HB, representing the historic Hudson's Bay Company. The background of this wilderness scene is filled with wind-swept pine trees and the dancing lights of the aurora borealis. On the obverse, the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, is accompanied by the face value of 150 Dollars and the year 2017. To ensure authenticity, the Royal Canadian Mint incorporated a micro-engraved security feature in the shape of a maple leaf containing the number 17. With a limited mintage of 15,000 pieces, this Brilliant Uncirculated coin is a remarkable example of modern minting technology and historical tribute.
