The 2017-S Kennedy half dollar presents a modern take on a classic American coin design, striking a balance between artistic heritage and specialized minting techniques. Produced at the San Francisco Mint, this particular fifty-cent piece features an enhanced uncirculated finish that highlights the intricate details of both its front and back designs. The coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper. On the obverse, the profile of President John F. Kennedy faces left, a design originally rendered by sculptor Gilroy Roberts. The inscription IN GOD WE TRUST is positioned beneath the portrait, while the mint mark S is visible just above the date.
