Struck at the West Point Mint in New York, this 2017 fifty-dollar gold piece features a distinctive burnished finish. This specialized coining process results in a matte-like appearance that sets it apart from standard bullion issues. This particular specimen has been graded in perfect Specimen 70 condition, highlighting the flawless execution of its intricate details. The obverse of the coin displays a classic American design adapted from the historic Gold Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It depicts Lady Liberty walking forward, bathed in the rays of a rising sun, holding a torch and an olive branch. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above, and the year 2017 is clearly visible. On the reverse, a design by Miley Busiek captures a family of bald eagles. A male eagle is shown in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest that holds a female eagle and her young.
