The 2017 American Silver Eagle represents the thirty first year of the United States Mint's premier silver bullion initiative. Struck at the West Point Mint, this one dollar coin contains exactly one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. Its weight and purity are fully backed by the United States government, ensuring its status as a trusted standard in modern coinage. On the obverse, the design features Adolph A. Weinman's classic depiction of Lady Liberty draped in the American flag, gracefully moving toward a rising sun. This side bears the legible inscriptions of the year 2017 and the guiding motto IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse displays a powerful heraldic eagle positioned beneath a cluster of thirteen stars, symbolizing the original colonies.
