2018 Australia 1 oz Silver Kookaburra MS-69 PCGS (FS, Kook Label)
The Australian Kookaburra series represents the most enduring bullion initiative from the Perth Mint, having commenced back in 1990. These issues celebrate the largest member of the kingfisher family, a bird native to the Australian continent. Over the years, the coin program has seen its production limits evolve, with the maximum mintage for the one ounce bullion issues expanding from 300,000 to 500,000 in 2011. This particular 2018 specimen, struck in one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, has achieved a certified grade of Mint State 69 (MS-69). The reverse of the coin captures a kookaburra in mid-flight, silhouetted against the backdrop of a full moon. This side also features the P mint mark representing the Perth Mint, alongside the year of issue and the series name. On the obverse, the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, is accompanied by the face value of one dollar.
