2018 Austria Copper €10 Guardian Angels (Uriel)
2018 Austria Copper €10 Guardian Angels (Uriel)
In 2018, the Austrian Mint expanded its captivating Guardian Angels series with a ten Euro copper coin dedicated to Uriel. This release represents the fourth installment in the collection, following the tributes to Michael and Gabriel in 2017, and alongside the tribute to Raphael in 2018. Struck in half an ounce of copper, this issue has a total mintage of 130,000 pieces and carries the official backing of the Austrian government. The obverse of the coin presents a symbolic representation of Uriel. Stylized flames rise from a brazier, elegantly framed by the letter U, which is further complemented by a yellow vine pattern. The year 2018 is clearly displayed on this side of the coin, marking its place in the series timeline. On the reverse, the design draws inspiration from late nineteenth-century artistry. It features an adaptation of a stained-glass window created by Selwyn Image around 1890. The imagery portrays Uriel as a youthful figure adorned with a halo, holding a stylized sun that bears the Latin word for sun, Sol.
