This modern silver round, issued in 2018, marks the third release in the Views of Jerusalem series. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, the piece offers a detailed look at the historic fortifications of the Old City of Jerusalem. The Holy Land Mint produced a limited run of only 3,600 of these proof-quality rounds, ensuring each piece is a carefully crafted tribute to one of the world's most recognizable historic sites. The front of the round depicts the imposing Walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, accompanied by the inscription "Walls of Jerusalem" in both English and Hebrew. These historic barriers were constructed from 1537 to 1541 under the direction of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Spanning approximately 4 kilometers in length, the defensive structures stand at an average height of about 10 meters, measure around 2.5 meters in thickness, and feature 34 watchtowers alongside 8 gates. On the reverse, the design showcases the Lion of Jerusalem set against an outline of a coat of arms, which frames several of the city's prominent buildings. The reverse also displays the trademark of the Holy Land Mint, alongside inscriptions confirming the weight and purity of the metal as "1 OZ. FINE SILVER 0.999".
