2018 Mexico 1/2 oz Silver Libertad BU
The 2018 half-ounce Silver Libertad is a striking example of Mexican coinage, struck in 0.999 fine silver at the Casa de Moneda de México. Established in the year 1535, this minting institution is the oldest in the Americas. The Libertad series itself has a rich legacy, having first debuted in silver in 1982. This specific 2018 release had a limited production run of just 15,500 pieces, each backed by the Banco de México. On the obverse side, the coin displays the official National Seal of Mexico. The central design features an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its beak, surrounded by the arched inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS. This powerful emblem represents the heritage and unity of the Mexican nation. The reverse side of the coin features the Winged Victory statue, a prominent monument in Mexico City. In the background, the majestic volcanic peaks of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl rise into the sky. The reverse also bears inscriptions detailing the coin's weight and purity, including 1/2 ONZA, LEY 0.999, and the year 2018, alongside the Mo mint mark of the Mexico City Mint.
