The African Elephant series is celebrated for its dynamic approach to design, featuring a newly rendered depiction of these magnificent creatures every year. On the reverse of this 2018 edition, the majestic African elephant is captured in its natural habitat, surrounded by the inscriptions of the series name, weight, and its high purity of 999.9 fine silver. On the obverse, the coin displays the official coat of arms for the Somali Republic. This heraldic shield is flanked by two leopards, with the year 2018 split on either side. The face value of 100 Shillings is clearly inscribed below the seal. While this legal tender coin represents Somalia, its production is carried out in Germany by the Bavarian State Mint. Interestingly, before the year 2004, the obverse of this ongoing series featured the national seal of Zambia instead of Somalia.
