This design is adapted from the famous 1907 Gold Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, showing Liberty walking forward with strength, illuminated by the radiant rays of a rising sun. The reverse, created by Miley Busiek, offers a tender yet powerful scene of a male bald eagle in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest that shelters a female eagle and their young.
