In 2019, the United States Mint commemorated one of humanity's greatest achievements, the July 20, 1969, moon landing. This commemorative silver dollar represents the first time the United States Mint struck a silver dollar in 0.999 fine silver. Minted in Philadelphia, the coin contains 0.8595 troy ounces of pure silver and has been graded in perfect Mint State 70 condition. The coin's design captures the spirit of the space race. On the obverse, a single human footprint is pressed into the textured lunar dust. Inscribed around this historic mark are the names of the three pioneering NASA space programs: Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. The design also features the year 2019, the word Liberty, the phrase In God We Trust, and the P mint mark representing the Philadelphia Mint. The reverse of the coin offers a unique perspective of the lunar surface. It recreates the famous photograph of Buzz Aldrin, showing the reflection in his helmet visor. Inside the visor, viewers can see the lunar lander, the American flag, and Neil Armstrong standing on the moon, capturing the moment of human triumph.
