The 2019 quarter-ounce Gold Eagle stands as a striking example of modern American coinage, combining historic artistry with the high-contrast beauty of a proof finish. Struck at the West Point Mint in New York, this ten-dollar denomination coin features highly reflective, mirrorlike fields that contrast beautifully with its frosted design elements. Crafted from 0.9167 fine gold, the coin contains exactly one quarter ounce of pure gold. On the obverse, the design presents a powerful depiction of Lady Liberty, adapted from the famous early twentieth-century Gold Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. In this rendition, Liberty is shown in full stride, holding a lit torch in one hand to represent enlightenment and an olive branch in the other as a symbol of peace. The West Point 'W' mint mark is visible on this side, denoting its origin of manufacture. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, shifts the focus to a touching family scene of America's national bird. A male eagle is depicted in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch to a nest where a female eagle and their young eaglets wait. This side also incorporates the traditional national mottos, 'IN GOD WE TRUST' and 'E PLURIBUS UNUM', alongside the inscriptions detailing the weight, gold purity, and the face value of 10 dollars.
