Introduced in 2011, the Noah's Ark series has become a standout modern release. This 2020 edition, carrying a face value of 500 Drams, is struck in one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. The sovereign issue is backed by the Armenian government, with the Central Bank of Armenia overseeing its release. To ensure the highest standards of purity, weight, and overall quality, the production is handled by a private minting facility in Germany. The design of the coin is deeply connected to the biblical narrative of the great flood. On the reverse, created by artist Eduard Kurghinyan, a dove carrying an olive branch flies in the foreground. Behind the bird, Noah's vessel floats upon the receding floodwaters, with the majestic peaks of Mount Ararat illuminated by a rising sun in the background. The obverse of the coin displays the official coat of arms for the Republic of Armenia. Alongside this national emblem, the inscriptions denote the 500 Dram denomination and the 2020 year of issue, completing a design that beautifully merges national identity with ancient narrative.
