Introduced in 1990, Australia's Kookaburra series reached a major milestone in 2020. To celebrate thirty years of this beloved numismatic staple, this massive one-kilo silver coin features a special dual-design tribute, showcasing two distinct depictions of the famous bush bird across its surfaces. On one side of the coin, a kookaburra is shown resting on a tree stump amidst native Australian leaves. This side also incorporates the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, along with the dual dates of 1990 and 2020 to mark the anniversary, alongside the face value of 30 Dollars. This particular depiction of the bird was originally created by Stuart Devlin. The other side of the coin presents a kookaburra perched on a rooftop during the early morning hours, set against stylized beams of sunlight. The inscriptions on this face include "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA 30TH ANNIVERSARY", the "P" mint mark representing the Perth Mint, and the weight and purity details of 1 kilo of 0.9999 fine silver. For added security, a tiny micro-laser engraved letter is also incorporated into the design. Struck from 32.1500 troy ounces of highly pure silver, this legal tender coin is backed by the Australian government. It represents a limited release, with a final mintage of just 13,655 pieces.
