Struck in one troy ounce of 0.999 fine gold, this 2020 issue from Barbados celebrates the natural heritage of the Caribbean. With an incredibly limited mintage of only 100 pieces, this Brilliant Uncirculated coin is a rare tribute to the island's national bird, the Brown Pelican. Despite being the smallest of all pelican species, these coastal birds are still impressive, averaging four feet in length and displaying a distinctive dark body, a long, curved neck, and an oversized bill. The reverse design captures the essence of the Caribbean coast, depicting two pelicans amidst the ocean waves and clouds. One bird is perched quietly on a pier post, while the other is shown in a detailed close-up. Inscriptions on this side denote the name of the coin, the year 2020, and the gold purity. On the obverse, the intricate Barbados coat of arms takes center stage. The central Golden Shield displays a Bearded Fig Tree alongside two Pride of Barbados flowers.
