Struck from one ounce of 0.999 fine silver, the piece highlights the unique marine life of the Caribbean alongside the traditional symbols of the issuing nation. The reverse side of the coin depicts a seahorse navigating its underwater environment, surrounded by ocean waves, aquatic plants, and rising air bubbles. This design honors a fascinating marine creature known for its remarkable biology, including the fact that seahorses form lifelong monogamous partnerships, and the males carry the developing young, which are known as fry once born. On the obverse, the national coat of arms of Barbados takes center stage. This detailed heraldic display features a central golden shield adorned with Pride of Barbados flowers and a bearded fig tree.
