The Chinese Gold Panda series underwent a significant transformation in 2016, shifting from traditional troy ounce fractions to the metric system. As part of this transition, the classic one-twentieth ounce weight was retired, making way for the compact one-gram gold format. This 2020 issue represents this modern era of Chinese coinage, containing one gram of 0.999 pure gold and carrying a face value of 10 Yuan. On the front of the coin, the magnificent Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located within Beijing's historic Temple of Heaven complex, is rendered in fine detail. Surrounding this architectural landmark are the Chinese characters for the People's Republic of China alongside the 2020 year of production. The reverse side captures a tender wildlife scene, portraying a small panda cub enjoying a meal of bamboo. This side also displays the coin's weight and purity, marked as 1g Au 0.999, alongside its 10 Yuan denomination. Every coin in this celebrated series is backed by the authority of the People's Bank of China, and this specific piece has achieved the top grade of Mint State 70.
