This twenty-five cent piece, struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 2020, celebrates the natural wonders of the Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve. The reverse side of the coin features an artistic depiction of a young red mangrove tree as it begins its life cycle, emerging directly from the coastal waters. In the background, the silhouettes of mature trees line the bay, capturing the essence of this vital marine habitat. Surrounding this coastal scene are the inscriptions identifying the location as Salt River Bay, U.S. Virgin Islands, alongside the year 2020 and the traditional motto E Pluribus Unum. On the obverse, the familiar profile of George Washington faces left, accompanied by the classic inscriptions denoting the country, the denomination as a Quarter Dollar, and the phrases Liberty and In God We Trust. A small P mint mark indicates its origin from the Philadelphia facility.
