Struck at the West Point Mint, this twenty-five dollar coin is composed of 0.9167 fine gold, containing exactly one half troy ounce of pure gold. Its proof finish provides a stunning visual contrast, characterized by highly polished, mirror-like backgrounds that make the detailed frosted designs stand out dramatically. On the obverse, the coin displays a celebrated depiction of Lady Liberty. She is shown in full stride, holding a flaming torch in one hand to light her path and a symbol of peace, an olive branch, in the other. This legendary design is adapted from the famous early twentieth-century gold double eagle created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
