0.1000 troy oz .9167 2021 MS-70 (PCGS)

The year 2021 marked a significant milestone for the United States Mint's premier bullion program. For the first time since the series debuted in 1986, the reverse of the coin underwent a complete transformation. This tenth-ounce gold coin showcases that new era, pairing a refreshed classic obverse with a modern, highly detailed reverse depiction of one of America's most iconic birds. On the obverse, the design draws inspiration from the historic gold double eagle created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Lady Liberty is depicted mid-stride, carrying a burning torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. For this Type 2 release, artists restored subtle details from the original bronze cast to give the image renewed depth. The year 2021 is inscribed alongside the figure of Liberty. The reverse introduces an entirely new portrait created by Jennie Norris. It features a highly focused, close-up view of an eagle's head, capturing the intense gaze and intricate feather patterns of the bird. This striking image is accompanied by inscriptions detailing the five-dollar face value, the gold weight of 1/10 troy ounce, and the traditional mottoes of the United States. Struck from 0.9167 fine gold, this coin has been certified in perfect Mint State 70 condition. Its weight and purity are fully backed by the United States Treasury, making it a fascinating study in modern minting technology and artistic evolution.
