The year 2021 marked a monumental shift for the United States Mint's premier gold bullion program, introducing the first major design update since the series commenced in 1986. This particular twenty-five dollar coin contains a half ounce of gold and represents the debut of the Type 2 design, showcasing a refreshed aesthetic on both sides of the coin. On the obverse, observers will find the classic depiction of Lady Liberty carrying a torch and an olive branch. While this image is adapted from the famous 1907 gold piece by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the Type 2 variation restores fine details directly from the original historical bronze cast. The word LIBERTY and the date 2021 are clearly legible on this side. The reverse of the coin features a completely new design for the series, displaying a highly detailed, close-up profile of an eagle. This lifelike portrait was created by Jennie Norris, bringing a modern artistic perspective to the long-running gold series. This specimen has been certified in perfect Mint State 70 condition, indicating its flawless strike and preservation.
