The year 2021 marked a significant milestone for the United States Mint with the introduction of a redesigned reverse for the American Silver Eagle series. This modern coin, struck in one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, represents the first major design update since the series originally debuted in 1986. Certified in near-perfect Mint State 69 condition, this specimen showcases the transition of a classic American coin into a new era. On the obverse, the coin displays the iconic depiction of Lady Liberty draped in the American flag, gracefully moving toward a rising sun. This classic image originally graced the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. Legible inscriptions on this side include the word LIBERTY, the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST, and the year 2021. The reverse introduces a fresh artistic vision created by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. It features a detailed eagle in flight, grasping an oak branch in its talons as if preparing to land. Surrounding this central image are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the face value of ONE DOLLAR, the weight and purity of 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, and the traditional Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM.
