2021 American Silver Eagle (Type 2) MS-70 PCGS (FDI, Black Label)

1.0000 troy oz .999 2021 MS-70 (PCGS)

The year 2021 marked a monumental transition for the United States Mint's signature silver bullion series. For the first time since its inception, the American Silver Eagle underwent a major design transformation. This specific coin represents the highly anticipated Type 2 variety, which debuted midway through 2021 to usher in a new era for collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. On the obverse, the classic depiction of Lady Liberty continues to captivate observers. She is shown draped in the folds of the American flag, moving gracefully toward a rising sun that emerges over a mountain ridge. This timeless imagery, originally created by Adolph A. Weinman, remains a beloved symbol of hope and freedom. In contrast, the reverse introduces an entirely new artistic vision. Designed by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, the new reverse features a detailed portrayal of a single eagle in motion. The majestic bird is captured mid-flight as it descends for a landing, clutching a branch from an oak tree in its talons. This dynamic scene replaces the previous heraldic eagle, offering a more naturalistic representation of America's national bird. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this specimen has achieved a perfect grade of Mint State 70 (MS-70). This flawless certification ensures that every detail of the historic redesign, from the feathers of the landing eagle to the stars on Liberty's flag, is preserved in pristine condition.
