The year 2021 marked a major milestone for the United States Mint with the introduction of the Type 2 American Silver Eagle. This release represents the very first time the series received a redesigned reverse since its initial debut in 1986. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this particular specimen has achieved the highest possible grading of Mint State 70, representing a coin with no visible imperfections even under close inspection. The front of the coin retains the classic Walking Liberty design, originally created by Adolph A. Weinman. This iconic imagery, which first appeared on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, shows Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward the dawn of a new day. Legible inscriptions on this side include the year 2021 and the traditional motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. On the reverse, a fresh artistic vision comes to life. Designed by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, this new layout features a detailed eagle in flight, clutching an oak branch in its talons.
